Permaculture design

We use permaculture design strategies

Building in resilience and sustainability

Permaculture Design uses techniques and strategies modelled on natural eco-systems, to create secure permanent landscapes that rejuvenate the soul, restore trust among local communities and provide free food and housing for our children.

Permaculture is a design science that makes the least change for the greatest effect, benefiting people, ecology and landscape in a balanced natural system.

We use permaculture design strategies to integrate landscapes and gardens with the natural features of the wider landscape, and build in resilience and sustainability.

Building in resilience and sustainability

Permaculture is a design science that makes the least change for the greatest effect, benefiting people, ecology and landscape in a balanced natural system.

Guy Redmond studied permaculture design with Patrick Whitefield in 1996; and again in 2012 with Geoff Lawton.  For 20 years we have used these design principles in all of our work.

We can guide you to read your own landscape and make the most of its unique qualities.

Permaculture design projects

All of our landscape designs are based on the permaculture design principle: work with nature rather than against it.

This is true if you are looking to manage water efficiently; or if you are building a play area.  All designs look out of place if they do not take their inspiration from nature itself.

We have designed and installed self sufficient landscapes for families where food security, organic methods and private leisure time are all of equal importance.  We have also created permaculture designs especially for the  breeding and welfare of racehorses.

Permaculture is essentially common sense design placing components efficiently together to minimise labour and maximise fertility.

Lessons are learned directly from nature: the diversity and interactivity of a natural system creates the fertility and the stability to allow permanent landscape to flourish.  If we can reproduce this diversity in our domestic landscapes, then we have time to spend with loved ones in play and relationship otherwise denied by mainstream agricultural systems.

Bill Mollison: "First by designing well, and then observing system evolution, we gain contemplative and celebratory time.  In celebration we can incorporate the myths and skills that are important for future generations."
